Nick Hollis

A Guinness World Record attempt raising money for the conservation of our precious rainforests.

Nick Hollis is an international mountaineer who's seen our impact on the natural world first-hand. He's set a world record attempt to promote environmental responsibility and raise funds for the conservation of our planet's most precious resource: its rainforests. To complete the 721 Challenge Nick will climb the Seven Summits, ski the North and South Poles and row the Atlantic Ocean in world record speed. He has already climbed the highest mountain on every continent, completing the 7 Summits, now he has just two more challenges to go in his race against climate change.

7 Summits

Nick has already completed the 7 Summits challenge, having climbed the highest peak on each of the 7 continents including Mount Everest. It is one of the most respected mountaineering feats in the world, and he is only the 37th person in the UK to complete it.

2 Poles

Following in the footsteps of the great explorers Nick will be skiing the long traditional route to the South Pole, traveling more than ten times the usual distance, and the regular North Pole route. He’ll be the 18th person in the world to have completed The 7 Summits and both Poles.

1 Ocean

Named the toughest rowing challenge in the world, Nick will be taking part in a race across the Atlantic Ocean with a teammate at his side. Taking 40-50 days, once he’s reached the finish line he’ll be the fastest person to have conquered 7 Summits, 2 Poles and 1 Ocean.

A race against climate change

Through his expeditions as a mountaineer Nick has witnessed our environmental impact on the natural world first-hand. This has inspired him to place environmental responsibility at the heart of the 721 Challenge. Working with the World Land Trust 721 will be supporting the expansion of a nature reserve providing vital protection for endangered species in Guatemala.

A plant-based challenge

Nick will be doing the 721 Challenge on an entirely plant-based diet to minimise his impact on the environment and prove that animal products aren't required to be a world-class athlete. Hard Bar have partnered with 721 Challenge, providing thousands of calories with their vegan energy bars to fuel Nick though the challenges. Their energy bars are organic, ethically sourced and sustainable - every Hard Bar bought plants a tree. 721 Challenge and Hard Bar share a vision to make a difference and put the planet first.
